1. James WILSON Jr. was born on 10 Nov 1779.1 He died on 7 Jul 1841.1 He was buried in New Zion Baptist Cemetery, Etowah, TN.1

James WILSON Jr. and (Mary? or Dicy?) MCCLURE were married on 1 Mar 1803 in Lincoln Co, NC.1,2,3 There is still some question as to James' first wife's given name. The North Carolina Marriage Bonds 1741 to 1868 list the following marriage:

Bride: Mary McClure
Groom: James Wilson
Bond Date: 01, Mar 1803
County: Lincoln
Record #: 01 134
Bondman: John McClure
Bond #: 000076650

Also, the will of the mother of this Mary McClure, dated 1820, leaves everything to her children except for Mary - she leaves Mary's part to Mary's children which indicates that Mary was dead at that time. We know that James' first wife (Mary? or Dicy?) died around 1815 so this would fit.

Here is the content of that will:

The problem with this record is that no primary source is available to verify the record. For that reason, I lean toward the Lincoln County, NC record. Another reason I lean that way is because Dicy wasn't a very common name at that time. It would be a very big coincidence for a man to marry two women with such an uncommon name.
