1. John R. RUNNION was born in 1752 in Somerset
County, New Jersey. He died in Nov 1829 in Haywood County, North
Carolina. An article from a Buncombe Co., NC Historical:
"John Runnion, b. ca 1755 probably in New Jersey, appears in the 1790 Wilkes
Co., NC Census, First Company. The Buncombe Co., NC Court minutes for October
1795 show a Bill of Sale from 'John Runion' to Zebulon Baird. John Runnion subsequently
appeared on p. 185 of the 1800 Buncombe Co., NC Census and in the Buncombe Co.,
NC Court minutes for July 1803 he was listed as a juror. In the Buncombe Co.,
NC Court minutes for July 1809 he appeared in a court case 'Nancy and Strawbridge
Young to the use of John Runion vs Chisholm Griffith and John Griffith.' John
appeared on pg. 275 of the 1810 Buncombe Co., NC Census.
An affadavit was also found on file with Haywood County, NC October term., 1829
wherein 'John Runyan' age 77 appeared in an affadavit regarding his application
for a Revolutionary War pension. Upon checking with the National Archives in
Washington, DC, no record was found of John receiving a pension.
