Gwen was a special person in the world of Hurst genealogy. As she
pursued her
career
in archeology she delved into many Virginia documents looking for Hursts
anywhere and everywhere.
She had an almost encyclopedic memory of Hurst data and helped
many fledgling
Hurst genealogists find their roots.
She made
many contributions to my web page as well as patiently explaining the
relationships (or lack of) between all the confusing John & William
Hursts.
She will be missed by the many of us who called her "friend".
"HE ONLY TAKES THE BEST"
GOD SAW THAT SHE WAS
GETTING TIRED,
AND A CURE WAS NOT TO BE.
SO, HE WRAPPED HIS ARMS
AROUND HER,
AND WHISPERED, "COME WITH
ME!"
WITH TEARFUL EYES, WE
WATCHED HER SUFFER,
AND SAW HER FADE AWAY.
WE COULD NOT BEAR TO
LOOSE HER;
BUT, WE COULD NOT BID HER
STAY.
A GOLDEN HEART STOPPED
BEATING,
HARD WORKING HANDS WERE
LAID TO REST.
GOD BROKE OUR HEARTS TO
PROVE TO US;
HE ONLY TAKES THE BEST!
