Selected Pages from the 1870 Federal Census - My Transcription
Above the data area of the page, in the upper left corner, is printed, Page No. _____,
followed by a vertical wavy bracket. Across the top of each page is printed, the symbol of a
right hand with index finger extended and pointing to the right, followed by the instructions:
Inquiries numbered 7, 16 and 17 are not to be asked in respect to infants.
Inquiries numbered 11, 12, 15, 16, 17, 19 and 20 are to be answered (if at all)
merely by an affirmative mark, as /.
The next three lines are printed in larger type, as follows:
Schedule 1.—Inhabitants in ________________, in the County of ______________, State
