GEORGE THOMAS LEMMON
According to Robert Lemmon Sr, George, along with two brothers [probably
cousins], migrated to California, perhaps in the 1870's or 1880's [see below]
via the southern route and ended up in Los Angeles. Grandaughter Eleanor J
Lemmon Holberg said that George Thos claimed to have owned the property on
which the Los Angeles Post Office was built.
The three soon headed north into the southern end of the San Joaquin
Valley. One of the Lemmons settled in the Fresno area while another contined
north and settled in the Sacramento/Placerville area.
Geo Thos veered west toward the coast, living for a while in the Salinas
Valley at San Miguel just north of Paso Robles. According to Bob Lemmon Sr.,
Loyal Lemmon was born there. George moved north with his growing family and
lived briefly in Santa Cruz and San Jose, where George C. Lemmon was born.
Eventually he arrived on the Medocino coast.

[George] Thomas Lemmon died at the Redwood Coast hospital in Fort Bragg
January 20, 1927. A native of Ohio, he was born September 18, 1849. In
1872 he married Angeline Richard in Nebraska. He came to southern
California in 1883 and relocated to Mendocino in 1898. They had six
children; three of whom survived his death; a daughter, Mrs Blanche
Johnson of Crescent City two sons; George of Plumas County and Loyal
Lemon of Caspar. His wife died in 1915 (July 22), two daughters in 1917
and one as an infant. The funeral was held at Caspar led by Rev. N. J.
Peterson; interment in Fort Bragg. (the 1915 account uses "Angeline" and
lists her husband as "G. A. Lemmon").
