(XXXVII) Sarah, daughter of Elias Gallup, married John Young, March 11, 1846. John Young was son of Elnathan and Sarah (Cottrell) Young, the former born in Hopkinton, Rhode Island, and the latter in Stonington, Conn.; they were married in Petersburg, Rensselaer county, New York; two children were born there: Lebius and Sarah, born Jan. 6, 1811. In October, 1812, they moved to a farm north of Copenhagen, where nine children were born, among whom were Charlotte Jane, Mary, John, Elmira, Elnathan and Alanson. Elnathan Young was a son of Thomas Young. John and Sarah (Gallup) Young had
(XXXVIII) Helen Charlotte Young, who married C. Bion Arthur, as aforementioned. Children of John and Sarah (Gallup) Young:

SECOND ENTRY:

George Bryant Young, son of Charles H. and Esther (Brooks) Young, was born at Trenton, Oneida county, New York, Nov. 5, 1840. He attended the district schools of his native town and the select school at Holland Patent, Oneida county. He learned the trade of carpenter, and in 1860 located in Lewis county, N.Y. for a short time. He soon returned to his native county and engaged in farming. He afterwards came to Martisburg, Lewis county, and settled on the old Pashal place, and followed farming for a score of years. He moved to the village ten years before he died, and retired from active business. Besides his farm he was interested in the commission business.
He was a Republican in politics, and was for years assessor of the town. He was a prominent member of the Presbyterian church, of which his wife has been a member for more than thirty years. He died March 12, 1904.
He married, Dec. 17, 1862, Mary (Peebles) Lee, born at Martinsburg, March 1, 1844, daughter of Charles Shepherd and Susan (Peebles) Lee.
Children:
1. Elmer, March 2, 1865, a farmer of Glenfield; married March 29, 1887; children: Mary Leon, Jan. 9, 1890; Gilmore, May, 1897.
2. Charles H., March 29, 1869; a farmer on the homestead; married Annie Riddlespraker; children: Esther Louisa, born Aug. 24, 1896; Susie Amelia, June 8, 1897; George Lloyd, Dec. 20, 1900; Stanley, June 1902.
