On
December 2 1933, William Ivor Rees and Ida
Victoria WALES were married in Niagra Falls, New York by
Rev C.R. Osborn of the Baptist church. The quaint ceremony was witnessed
by Anna M. Lace and Viola E. Osborn.
William
was a Corporal for the Royal Canadian Air Force during WWII, from
January 22nd 1941 to November 26th 1945. He was a guard and couldn't
fly because he was color blind and he was honorably released on
a medical Category after being awarded the Canadian Volunteer service
medal. He also worked for the CP. Rail Eastern Region, as a freight
Car Checker for many years.
On October
8th 1960 in the Barin United Church, William and Ida proudly watched
their beautiful 23 year old daughter walk down the isle to give
her hand marriage to 25 year old C.N.
Ferraro.
William
and Ida lived many years on Eglinton Ave W. Mount Dennis, Ontario.
In October of 1965 William and Ida Purchased 10 acres of land in
the township of chinguacousy. The home was where William and Ida
were going to retire, unfortunately neither of them would live there.
On July 16, 1966 at Humber Memorial Hospital in Weston, Ida passed
away . Ida is now resting in Sanctuary
Park Cemetery. Lot 199a Section C.
William
Rees moved in with his daughter and her family after Ida's passing.
He retired from the CP Rail in 1970 and lived the rest of his life
there. He enjoyed taking care of the chickens and goats out in the
back barns with his trusty dog Mr. Muggs, and fiddling with the
lawn mowers. Smoking his pipe and making his wine. He was a hard
working and keep it simple man. In his 80's William Rees developed
bone cancer and passed away shortly after in The Brampton Memorial
Hospital, I believe at the age of 82. He was cremated and his ashes
were put to rest with his wife Ida at the cemetery.
