Notes for John S. Ables
Spelling of the surname

In most older official references (census, court records, etc.) to this family the name is spelt Ables. In the bible record the name is spelt Able, except for the last two births and one death which uses Abel. More derivation seems to occur over time. In a index for the marriages of Hunt County, 3 children of John S. were married as Abel, 2 as Able, and 1 as Abell. Listed also are Abill, Ables, and Abol. {DAH}

Notes for Ader Vashti (Child 10)
This individual's name is spelt two different ways in the family bible. On the births page, the name is spelt Ader Vashlie. While on the deaths page, it is spelt Ader Vastine. Ader is most probably Ada spelt as Ader due to the dialectic pronunciation. It is merely my opinion that the middle name is Vashti due to the use of that name in the Dunn family of Alabama. {DAH}177
Notes for Lee Ella Cornelius (Child 12)
In the family bible, Lee Ella's name is given as L C Abel due to a limited amount of space in the frame allocated for births. {DAH}177

Notes for Julia Belle (Child 13)
In the family bible, Julia's name appears at the very bottom of the page under the frame allocated for births. Written is "Julia B. Abel was bor"... that is all the photocopy in my possession has. {DAH}177
