John Schenck(b. 7 APR 1770, d. 8 JAN 1850)

Note: Son of Cornelius Schenck and Margaret (Taylor) Schenck. He spent the early portion of his life in New Jersey. He was given exceptional educational advantage, fitting himself for the profession of teacher and followed position for several years. Wanting the pursuit of agriculture he and his brother, Ruloff, accompanied by their families on horseback went westward; and found land of nominal price in Cayuga County in the town of Genoa, where he began to clear. Here he resumed his profession, taught school in the winter season and farmed in the summer. Then later moved to Springport, bought a track of land on the Great Gully road, where he built a fine homestead. His broad and cultivated fields, covered with grain, replaced the immense tract of woodland. There he and his wife reared their large family of children. To about 2000 the homestead was occupied by Debora Lynne (Schenck) (3rd great grand daughter) and Stephen Baran with their children.

Donald William Schenck(b. 13 JUN 1932, d. 17 DEC 1998)

Note: Son of Marion Clay Schenck and Eva Maria (White) Schenck. He graduated from Union Springs Central School, Union Springs, New York; attended Ithaca College, school of Music and served in the U.S. Army as an X-Ray Tech., Verdun, France. . Donald spent more than 30 years as a Life Insurance salesman in the central New York State area. The avocations of Sports and Music followed his entire life and one might find him singing in a Barbershop Choir. He umpired High School, Legion, and College Baseball and currently many tournament games of Youth Baseball, during the Summer months. Although they might not always agree, no Player, Coach or Spectator ever had to ask_"What was the Call." A strong sense of humor, coupled with a steadfast belief in the Holy Bibles teachings, have buttressed his journey along life's pathway. Here is a quotation from Donald's Mouth. "I know there are Harps and choirs of Angels in Heaven and am looking forward to it. I just hope I'm officiating the Game when Satan shows up with his Bat in hand."

Donald W. Schenck

Donald W Schenck, 66, of Route 8 Bridge water, died Thursday at home.

Born in Sherwood, he graduated from Ithaca College. He served in the Army from 1953 to l956 He retired as an agent for New York Life in Syracuse. He was a member of New York State Baseball Umpires Association and umpired in Little League baseball games throughout New York for many years.

Survivors; A daughter, JoAnne Beach of Earlville, a son, Douglas of Fort Sill, Okla; a Sister, Shirley Hoxie of Ocala, FL; two brothers, Roy of Green Valley, Arizona., and Charles of Union Springs; five grandchildren.

Services: 10 A.M. Tuesday at Burgess Funeral Home, 3 Preston St., Earlville. Burial, Evergreen Cemetery, Scipioville, No calling hours.
