Auburn, Dec. 10--A pretty wedding took place at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John S. Ward, Mapleton, N.Y. on Wednesday evening, Dec. 3, when their daughter May Chapman, was united in marriage by Rev. Irving W. Ketchum of Scipioville, to William White. The bride was very prettily attired in white cashmere, trimmed with white silk and lace. Alden Ward, brother of the bride was groomsman while the best man was Frank G. Hill. The brides maids were Miss Clara Hawley and Miss Lena M. Hill. The guest numered about seventy-five. The presents were numerous and beautiful. Mr. and Mrs. White left for a short wedding trip and will be at home to their friends after Dec. 15.
He was a farmer in Scipio, New York. He also was a carpenter and butcher.

John Ward, 76 years old, of Scipioville passed away at the home of his son, William J. Ward in Moravia, Tuesday morning, January 26. Mr. Ward's boyhood was spent at Barbers Corners where he went to school. He always has farmed in the vicinity of Scipioville and his home at the time of his death was with his daughter, Miss Myra Ward. Mr. Ward was the overseer of the poor in Scipio for twelve years. He had been in poor health for the past few months following an operation. Mr. Ward was survived by four daughters, Miss Myra Ward and Mrs. May White of Scipioville; Mrs. Belle Sherman of Levanna and Mrs Grace Mosher of Fleming; two sons, William J. Ward of Moravia and Alden S. Ward of Auburn; a sister, Mrs. Rose Wells of Auburn; a brother, Zacharia Ward of Throop; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The funeral was held at the home of Miss Myra Ward, Thursday afternoon at 2:30. Mr. Haberle, a great personal friend of Mr. Ward and Rev. Casper Gregory officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.

"The Pines, Lot #111, containing one hundred and seventeen acres, on Truesdale Road, and Two and one-half miles from Union Springs, six of Aurora and twelve of Auburn, was the property of H. Clay Schenck, Post office address, Union Springs, RFD, #2. Besides the raising of hay, grain and stock, a dairy was conducted, the milk being sent direct to the Aurora Elgin Creamery. There were different varieties of fruit, and the water being abundantly supplied from two living springs. The buildings were in good repair. This farm was originally known as the Abram Burlieu Farm, and after changing ownership several times, came into possession of the H. Clay Schenck ownership in 1871. He is a native of Cayuga County, born in 1845, and was twice married, his first wife died in 1899, and in 1901, he married Miss Mary Cornell, of Cayuga County. Note: Son of John Schenck and Mary "Polly" (Quackenbush) Schenck. He was reared and educated in the town of Springport, and in early life began his career as a farmer. To aid and encourage him in his work, he took unto himself a wife before he had attained his majority, being married in his twenty-first year; and they made a grand success in establishing a home. He was energetic and industrious; and by frugality and sagacious management he was enabled in 1843 to buy the homestead that was later occupied by Cyrus and some of his sisters taking possession of the fourth day of April. He and his wife for nearly sixty years trod the path of life together.

Mrs. Mane Schenck whose death has been noticed, was born on the 28th day of June in the year 1806, in the State of Delaware. Her parents came to this town when she was quite young, in which she resided up to the time of her death.
On the 26th day of September in the year 1827, she was married to Jacob Schenck,. who survives her but is in very feeble health.
They moved upon the farm which the family now occupies, on the 4th day of April, 1843. Ten children were the fruits of their marriage, four sans and six daughter, all of whom are living, except the oldest, a son, who died Jan. 30th, 1857. .The children all reside at or near the old homestead.
A true and faithful wife, a kind and loving mother, she passed -away on the morning of the 15th, at the ripe old age of 80 yean, 8 mouths and 20 days. - - - -
The funeral-was largely attended by friends and neighbors who came to pay their last respects Rev J. J. Brayton of Auburn, was present and spoke of comforted consolation to the morning friends.
The remains were in charge of Mr J K Tallman, undertaker the three Sons and three grandsons acting as pall-bearers. - - Com.
