Hoxie and his wife Mary Marsh operated the grain mill in Fleming until it closed in 1942. During WWII and till he retired, he worked as welder at American Locomotive Company in Auburn, New York.

He leased in 1933 the greenhouse, and signed Articles of Agreement with American - Mnninger Greenhouse Mfg, Corp. to purchase the greenhouse in 1935. He operated a greenhouse from about 1933 till about 1966. In 1966 Earl & Mildred sold the greenhouse business to Seeley and Youngman. It was deeded back to Earl in 1969. In 1969 he leased the greenhouse to Ivan E. Youngman. His favorite hobby was collecting and refinishing furniture.

Floyd Emery Hoxie(b. 12 JUN 1881, d. 13 JAN 1972)
Note: Son of George Zebulon Hoxie and Eva (VanLiew) Hoxie. Floyd of Genoa, New York. Who at the age of thirteen while convalescing from an injury to his arm, Found among papers belonging to his uncle (Allen E. Hoxie) the beginnings of the family history of Lodowick Hawksie. Allen Hoxie born 24 Sep. 1840 was killed during the Civil War on 16 June. 1864 at the Battle of Petersburg, Virginia. He was a First Sergeant Company I, 111th Reg New York Volunteers. Genealogy became a lifetime hobby of Floyd. He spent many hours researching at Syracuse New York. Library and corresponding with other members of the family. He also saw many persons and visited many cemeteries for information. Floyd worked for Poplar Ridge Telephone Company until 1922. He purchased the Genoa Feed Mill in 1922 and operated it until 1944 when he became an electrician.
