Well Known Educator Dies At Harlem Springs
Robert H. Howey, 86, son of Joshua and Julia Howey, died last Saturday, November 10, at Harlem Springs after a brief illness. Mer. Howey was born at Harlem on April 8, 1842. He received his early education there and later graduated from the McNeily Normal school in Hopedale. From here on his life is one long record of scholastic attainment. For three years he served as president of Harlem Springs college 1867 to 1870; in 1874 he graduated from the Western Theological seminary and for five years he preached the gospel at Unionville, Mo. Professor Howey then taught in the Unionville public schools for two years, after which he went to Helena, Montana, as the superintendent of the schools there. In 1927 he returned to his old home in Harlem where he remained. Mr. Howey presented his entire collection of books, numbering nearly 2,000 to the Carrollton high school a year ago. Professor Howey is the last of a family of five children. He is survived by one nephew and two nieces: T. Lee and Mrs. James Moore of Harlem Springs and Mrs. Charles Riggle of Canton. Services were conducted by Rev. B. Yorke in the Harlem Presbyterian church on Monday, November 12, Professor W. R. Bell paid high tribute to the deceased for his kindness to the students of the high school. Interment was made at the Harlem Springs cemetery.

Laurel Lake homemaker Julie Ann Whilden, 32, of Laurel Lake died Monday, April 7, 2003, in the emergency room at South Jersey Healthcare, Bridgeton Hospital. She had been in failing health for the past year and a half.
Mrs. Whilden was born in Toms River and was the daughter of Sandra Bascelli Corson Howey of Laurel Lake. She had been a resident of the Laurel Lake section of Commercial Township for 31 years. Prior to that, she had lived in Barnegate. She was a homemaker.
Besides her mother, survivors include three daughter, Samantha E. Rivera, Jessica D. ivera and Joni M. Whilden, all of Leesburg; a stepson, Justin Nicke of Millville; six stepbrothers, Edmund Corson, Edward Howey III, and David Howey, all of Laurel Lake, Scott Corson of Leesburg, Darrell Howey of Florida and Robert Elbertson of Dividing Creek; five stepsisters, Linda Whilden of Delmont, Brenda Peterson of Delmont, Christina Corson of Leesburg, Brenda Howey of Laurel Lake and Batina Howey of Texas; her former husband, Kenneth Whilden of Leesburg and her fiance, Kerry Nicke of Laurel Lake.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Padgett Funeral Home, 160 Main St., Cedarville. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Millville. Friends will be received prior to the services from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

CATHERINE H. KELLER
Catherine H. Keller, 72, of Laurel, died Saturday, September 20, 2003 at Seaford Genesis Center in Seaford after two years of failing health. She suffered a stroke on October 30, 2001.
Mrs. Keller was born in Greenwich, N.J., on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Catherine (Webb) Howie.
She is survived by her husband, Calvin W. Keller Sr.; her sister, Dorthy Jagger and husband, Wayne Jagger of Laurel; her brother, Thomas Callen and wife, Carol, of Philadelphia; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Betty Howie of Philadelphia; two step-daughters; and a step-son, all of N.J.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Kathalen and Jean; her brother, Robert Howie; and a stepson, Calvin Keller Jr.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Paul's Tabernacle in memory of Catherine Keller.

EDWARD M. HOWEY SR., 70, of Woodbury, died Friday at Hahnemann University
Hospital, Philadelphia.
Mr. Howey owned Mione Hand Soap Co. of Mickleton and Howey's Express Co., a
Woodbury and Mickleton trucking firm. He lived in Woodbury all his life and was a former member of Florence Masonic Lodge 87 of Woodbury.
Survivors: wife, Lillian C. Davenport Howey; son, Edward M. Jr., and daughter, Lillian C. Adams, both of Clarksboro; two grandchildren; brother, Robert of Honolulu, and a sister, Marjorie Harvey of Melbourne, Fla.
Services: friends may call, 9:30 a.m. today, Davis Funeral Home, 171 Delaware St., Woodbury; funeral, 11 a.m. today, at the funeral home; burial, Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro.

Edward Martin Howey Jr.
Funeral services for Edward Martin Howey Jr. of Gordo were held at 11 a.m. Oct. 5 at Big Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Ralph Smith officiating.
He was born in New Jersey. He was a member of Big Hill Baptist Church and was employed at Peco Foods. He was preceded in death by his father Edward Martin Howey Sr. He died Oct. 1, 2007 at the age of 56 at DCH Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife Janis Hunter Howey, Gordo; daughter Audrey Howey, Gordo; sister Lillian Banks, New Jersey; mother Lillian Howey, New Jersey; three grandchildren; R. Ledden Rosato, nephew, New Jersey; also in-laws Harold and Mariea Hunter, New Jersey.
Pallbearers were Gregory Motorna, Todd Hall, Jeremy Sellears, Kenny Junkin, Rayford Hudson, Larry Finley, Paul Patterson and Cole Patterson.
Honorary pallbearers were Chad Shirley and R. Ledden Rosato.
Burial was in Big Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with SKELTON FUNERAL HOME of Reform directing.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Edward Martin Howey Jr. Funeral Fund, c/o Skelton Funeral Home, P.O. Box 550, Reform, AL 35481 or Breast Cancer Awareness, American Heart Association.
