In the name of God Amen. I John Howey, of Mecklenbourg County and State of N. Carolina, being at present in a weak and low condition of body but a sound and disposing memory, Blessed be God, and calling to mind the mortality of the body,and that it is appointed for all men to die, do make and ordain this my last will and Testament in the manner and form following.First of all I recommend my Soul to God who gave it,and my body to the Earth to be buried in Christianlike and descent manner at the discretion of my Executors herein after mentioned, and as touching such worldly Estate as it hath pleased God to Bless me with in this life, I give and dispose of the same as follows, first of all I will that my just debts and funeral expences be paid and discharged as soon as convenient after my decease. Im prinis. I give and bequeath unto my well beloved wife Francis, a Negro wench named Sue, and a small wench named Doll, and a Negro man named Bob, and a sorrel mare called Pall, three cows with their calves, with two steers that be from her choice of my stock, two Ewes with their lamb,together with all the household and kitchen furniture that she brought with her to me when she became my wife,and the beds and bedding to be hers in the same repair that they now are in, Fiffty Bushels of Corn, and Ten Bushels of wheat and one bushel of salt to be delivered to her at whatever place she has her residence and that loss my executors clear ? expense to my widow and likewise One Hundred Dollars in money to be paid unto her by my Executors in one year after my decease and if it be convenient for my survivors to pay the one third of the hundred dollars sooner it is my will that it should be done and this property so left to my wife, I leave to her use and to be wholly at her disposal.Item. I give and bequeath unto my son George the land and Plantation I now live on containing three hundred acres to be the same only with all the building and improvements thereunto belonging to him and his heirs forever in Fee Simple together with my Negro man named Jack and a mare of my property that he has now in his possession. It is likewise will that all my household and kitchen furniture (excepting what is above mentioned to my wife) together with all my books and wearing apparel be equally divided between my four Executors hereinafter named, Share and Share alike as they shall agree and it is further my will that all the remainder of my property not herein before mentioned be sold by my executors as soon as convenient after my decease,and the money arising from such sale together with what money I may have on hand and the outstanding debts due to me, divided as follows To Robert Howey Ten Dollars and to each of his three children by daughter Mary, deceased, viz Samuel, John and William, thirty dollars each, to be put to interest by my executors for their use and each of them to be paid their share at the age of Twenty one years, and if should so happens that any of the three children here mentioned should die before they are Twenty one years of age, then and in that case their share to given to the survivours. One hundred Dollars to my wife as before mentioned and the remainder of the money arising from the sale to be equally divided between my three children Elizabeth wife to William Howey, Jean wife to William Stewart and Ann wife to John Huston share and share alike. Isaac Howey was mentioned as a child and heir at law of Isaac Howey deceased; Davis was the administrator of the estate of Isaac Howey. There was a contract between Isaac Howey and John Howey to sell the property at the time of Isaac's death. John sought relief from the New Jersey state legislature to authorize Davis to fulfill the contract. An Act of the Legislature dated 12 Nov 1807 authorized the sale. The property was 63 acres 2 roods 16 perches on the road from Swedesboro to Oldman's Creek situate in Woolwich, Gloucester Co. Sale was completed on 4 Apr 1808 for one dollar. A further sum of $250 was paid. Part of the land was that sold by Issac Richman, wife Rachel and William Mulford on 13 Sep. 1806. Sale recorded 11 April 1808. Deed also mentions children and heirs at law of Issac Howey deceased. They are Mary Howey, Benjamin Howey, Rebecca Howey, Isaac Howey, Ann Howey, Hope Howey and Martha Howey.4

Mrs. Hewitt was born to the late Edward S. & Mary Ann (Steward) Howey, and she was raised in Woodstown. A 1938 graduate of Woodstown High School, she had attended Pierce Business School and worked as a legal secretary for Acton and Point Law Office for over 30 years.
Mrs. Hewitt is survived by her sons, Robert E. Hewitt of Hong Kong, China and Michael D. Hewitt of West Deptford; her daughter, Maryanne Carlson of Virginia Beach; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and her sister, Peggy Mears of Elsmere, DE.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert W. Hewitt in 1991, her brother, Neil Howey and her sister, Ellen Howey.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, December 30th in the auditorium at Friends Village, 1 Friends Dr., in Woodstown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 2550 Route 1, North Brunswick, NJ 08902.

Edward Martin Howey Jr.
Funeral services for Edward Martin Howey Jr. of Gordo were held at 11 a.m. Oct. 5 at Big Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Ralph Smith officiating.
He was born in New Jersey. He was a member of Big Hill Baptist Church and was employed at Peco Foods. He was preceded in death by his father Edward Martin Howey Sr. He died Oct. 1, 2007 at the age of 56 at DCH Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife Janis Hunter Howey, Gordo; daughter Audrey Howey, Gordo; sister Lillian Banks, New Jersey; mother Lillian Howey, New Jersey; three grandchildren; R. Ledden Rosato, nephew, New Jersey; also in-laws Harold and Mariea Hunter, New Jersey.
Pallbearers were Gregory Motorna, Todd Hall, Jeremy Sellears, Kenny Junkin, Rayford Hudson, Larry Finley, Paul Patterson and Cole Patterson.
Honorary pallbearers were Chad Shirley and R. Ledden Rosato.
Burial was in Big Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with SKELTON FUNERAL HOME of Reform directing.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Edward Martin Howey Jr. Funeral Fund, c/o Skelton Funeral Home, P.O. Box 550, Reform, AL 35481 or Breast Cancer Awareness, American Heart Association.

Born and raised in Woodbury, Ed moved to Gordo, Ala., in 1996.
Ed was a former partner in the Mione Mfg. Co. in Mickleton. In Gordo, Ala., he worked for Peco Foods, Inc.
His father, Edward M. Howey Sr., preceded him in death.
Survivors in Gordo, Ala., include his wife, Janis Hunter Howey, formerly of Woodbury, daughter Audrey Howey and grandsons Jordan, Ian and Xander. In Woodbury, Ed is survived by his mother, Lillian Howey, sister and husband, Cam and Benny Banks, and his nephew R. Ledden Rosato.
Eddie was laid to rest at the Big Hill Baptist Church in Gordo, Ala., on Oct. 5, 2007.
