Welcome to the website that celebrates the family history of John Henry Howard and Dora Ellen Reimers of Boise, Id. My name is Ellwood (Woody) Howard and I am the youngest of five kids in the family. The others from oldest to youngest are Kathleen Howard (Kreisman), Michael Howard, Terrance Howard, and Gretchen Howard.

You will find our family is rich in history. Starting as Gentry in Old England, our Howards moved to the Tidewaters of Virginia and accross the country into the Old West. The Reimers on the other hand are firmly entrenched in Old Germany. Immigrating to the United States from the Holstein region of Germany, which has a fascinating and active history from the early to late 1800's, you can learn more about what prompted our German ancestors to leave their homeland.

On this page you will find several links that will take you on a journey of our family and allow you to share whatever information you may have about our family history.

The Family link will take you to my private website where you can see and share family photos, news, interesting programs, and history. This is a secure site to protect those family members still living and to allow sharing of more private or personal information. Email me for a username and password at
The Howard Track link will take you to a reprint of the unpublished book, "The Howard Track from the Tidewater Counties of Virginia to Elmore County, Id." originally written by Roy and William Howard. This link is active, but I still need to finish the OCR scan of the pages. Be patient...I'm working on it!

Finally, the History of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany link will take you to a well written and lengthy synopsis of the history of the land our Reimers forefathers came from. It covers several enjoy the read.  Also, here is a link to a page that may help you with your search for your German ancestry.  I have not yet been through all of it but it looks good and I hope it helps.
