Abel Stevens Sr. was a early settler who moved with his wife and family from Vermont in 1795 to Bastard township, Leeds County, Upper Canada. He was a Baptist Clergyman.
The Houghton Family Bible states that Jonathan's father's name was Joseph and his mothers name was Hannah. Also Lists Jonathan's and Nancy's sons and daughters names and date of birth.
The Bible was Jonathan and Nancy Family Bible Copyright 1859, was passed on to Jonathan Jr. and eventually to his great-grandson Arvid R. Krasche of Woodward, IA in 2001. Nancy Gilchrist died on May 8, 1893 at Mayfield, Grand Traverse Co., MI, USA, age 85 y 3 m 19 d.
