Thomas Horton was buried on his farm at West Hill in New Lebanon; his headstone was later moved to the Cemetery of the Evergreens, New Lebanon. Thomas Horton served as private and then as a Sergeant in Captain Elisha Gilbert's 8th Company, Col. William B. Whiting's New York 17th Regiment. He was taken prisoner by the British.
