Hezekiah Horton-1714 was born 01 Sep 1714 in Swansea, MA and
died 19 Aug 1787 in Guilford, Windham County, Vermont. He was buried in
Carpenter Cemetery in Guilford. He married Mary Martin on 23 Dec 1735
in Rehoboth, MA. She was born 17 Mar 1714 in Rehoboth, MA and died 28
Aug 1802 in Guilford, Windham County, Vermont. Hezekiah Horton was the
son of John Horton and Mehitable Guernsey. Mary was the daughter of
John and Marcy Martin. Hezekiah and Mary had the following children:

Isaiah Horton -1735 was born 19 Jan 1735 and died in Canada.
Isaiah was a Loyalist and fled to Canada before the Revolution.
He married Ann Wood on 14 Feb 1762 in Gloucester, R.I. She was born 16
Feb 1741 in Warwick, Kent County, R.I. and died in Canada. Isaiah and
Ann had the following children:

Stafford Horton-1746 was born 13 Nov 1746 and died 07
Feb 1813 in Hinsdale, Cheshire, NH. He married unknown in about 1779
and had children:
1. Mehitable Horton was born 09 Oct 1780 in Guilford,Vermont
and died 02 Oct 1864 in Hyde Park, Vermont, she was buried in Holbrook
Cemetery in Hyde Park. Mehitable married George A. Pettee on 06 Sep
1796.
2. Hezekiah Horton was born 18 Aug 1785 in Guilford, Vermont
and died 23 Sep 1853 in Hinsdale, NH
Hezekiah Horton Jr.-1740 was born about 1749 in Rehoboth, MA
He settled before the revolution at Guilford, Vermont. He was a soldier
there in Captain Comfort Starr's Company on the alarm of October, 1780.
His brother, Nathan, was in the same company, and his brother Stafford
was also in the service. According to the first census taken in 1790,
these three were heads of families in Guilford, all apparently close in
age. Hezekiah had a son, also named Hezekiah under sixteen, and three
females in his family.
Hezekiah Horton III-1785 was born in 1791 in Guilford,
Vermont and
died at Massena, NY in 1844. He settled on the farm in Massena now
owned by Elon A. Horton ( in 1910.) He lived for a time also at Ira,
Vermont and at Clarendon. He owned and operated a distillery in
Vermont, but after he came to New York in 1840 he followed farming. He
married Anne Hutchinson, born in Vermont, in 1790 and died at Massena
in 1875. They had Ransom J. mentioned below, and eight other children,
among them Jane and Elon, who grew up, but died unmarried.
Ranson Julius Horton was born at Ira, Vermont in 1824 and died
on the homestead at Massena on 09 Jan 1896. He received his early
education in the public schools of his native town. He came with his
parents to Massena when he was sixteen years of age and attended a
select school there. He was of a mechanical turn of mind and patented
several useful and ingenious devices, among them a fanning mill, of
which he was also one of the manufacturers, and for which he was a
traveling salesman for a number of years. He lived at Potsdam one year
while his sons were in school, but the greater part of his life was
spent in farming at Massena.
He was a skillful musician, and talented singer, and for many years he
taught singing schools in this section. He was active in the church,
and deacon of the Baptist church for many years and member of the board
of trustees, and was one of the largest contributors to the building
fund of the Baptist Church in Massena. In politics he was a
Republican. Ranson married Harriet Russell on 16 Feb 1853. She
was born at Peru, Essex County, NY.
