Hubert Horsch and Olga Hummel


Hubert Horsch was born in Trier, Germany about 1867. Hubert made his way to Rotterdam, Netherlands, where he boarded the ship P Caland for America. He arrived in New York on February 9, 1887. Hubert married Emma Wieland on April 26, 1888. They settled near Cranston, Rhode Island.

Emma died sometime between 1910 and 1920. She and Hubert did not have any children. Hubert later remarried to a widow, Olga Hummel Hoen. She had a daughter from her previous marriage, Charlotte Hoen. Later on, Hubert and Olga had a daughter together.

Hurbert's sister, Elizabeth Horsch, married Nicholas Schonarth in Trier. Three of Nicholas and Elizabeth's sons came to America. Their names were Peter, Nicholas and Joseph. Hubert Horsch helped his nephews settle in America.

Nicholas Schonart wanted to be a doctor, but he was not able to attend a colleg in America. He returned to Germany, and he was drafted into the German army. He fought during WW I, and was killed in battle in Germany.
