I am a descendant of William born in 1795.

On the 19th August 1816 William married Hannah Isaac of Butleigh in the parish church of St Leonard, Butleigh, Somerset. Hannah was a daughter of William & Ann Isaac nee Larcombe.

The first born child of William & Hannah was baptized,

William Isaac Jelly on 28th June 1817,
a second child was baptized Ann on 30th January 1819:
both ceremonies took place at St John's Parish Church, Frome.

I have not found anything regarding their family life, but it appears that Hannah died in December 1830
& William senior 1838.
They are buried at the Wesleyan Church in Frome.

The next known major event in the life of William Isaac Jelly appears to concern a postal order.
April 1841 Monmouthshire Assizes –
Richard Williams and William Isaac Jelly gaoled regarding a postal order to the value of £3 18s 6d,
they were sentenced to serve 6 months in Monmouth Gaol.

William Isaac Jelly eventually met and later married a young lady named Louisa Moore,
eldest daughter of William & Ann Moore nee Arthur.
William Moore died in Somerset during 1846, and sometime after his death his widow & family moved to
Trevethin, Monmouthshire.
The widowed Ann Moore was living in Talywain on 30th/31st March when the 1851 census was carried out,
With her were three of her unmarried children William age 19, James age 11 & Sarah aged 7.

On 12th July 1851, William & Louisa were married at the Hermon Chapel, Nantyglo.
William & Louisa started their family soon after their wedding when William their first child was born in 1851
followed by James in 1856, Benjamin 1861, Samuel 1865 and Joseph in 1871.

By this time the surname spelling had changed to Jelley.
