Thomas T. Ponds Services for Thomas T. Ponds, 69, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday from the Chapel of the Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home and services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday from the Saltillo Baptist Church with burial in Shady Grove Cemetery in Hardin County. The body will lie in state from 12 noon until time of services at the Saltillo Baptist Church. Mr. Ponds died suddenly Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. on the ferry while crossing at Saltillo. He was born in Saltillo, the son of the late John Thomas Ponds and Grace Ann Austin Ponds and was educated in the county schools there. He was a member of the Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Church. He was a retired construction foreman for Dement Construction Company and was a veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Cleary Ponds in 1984. Survivors are two daughters, Sylvia Kay Smith and
Mary Ann Griffin, both of Jackson, one brother, Parker Ponds of Hamilton,
Alabama, three sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Jackson of Morris Chapel, Mrs. Louise
Bridges of Savannah and Mrs. Mary McCall of Saltillo, five grandchildren and
three great grandchildren. |
