Horace Manley Allen - March 6, 1964

Savannah, Tennessee - Funeral services for Horace Manley Allen, 70, who died Friday morning at the Hardin County General Hospital, after suffering a stroke three weeks ago, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Shackelford Chapel, with the Rev. Richard Alexander and Rex Turman officiating.

     Interment will be in Memory Gardens.

     Mr. Allen was a grocer in the Hooker's Bend Community for 30 years and moved to Savannah in 1934 where he was a Ford tractor dealer until 1952.  From 1952 to 1956 he served as Hardin County Tax Assessor.  He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he had been an Elder since 1945.  He was a veteran of World War I.  He was born and reared in Hardin County and was past adjunct of the Savannah American Legion.

     He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Icie Kerr Allen; one daughter, Mrs. Nancy Carolyn Bradley of Norfolk, Virginia; one brother, Malcolm Allen of Pinson; one sister, Mrs. Ollie Allen of Bath Springs, and one grandchild.
