The HUGHES FAMILY includes GEORGE HUGHES, NANCY JANE HUGHES SWIFT, W. H. HUGHES, AND SILAS HUGHES. The Family's first known residence was in ATHENS, LIMESTONE CO., ALABAMA where NANCY JANE HUGHES Was Born (according to her death certificate. THE family also has ties to HENDERSON Co., DECATUR CO., and HARDIN CO., TN and the PORTAGEVILLE, MO area. IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION ON THIS FAMILY PLEASE CONTACT ME AT jane_helv@hotmail.com. Because of her diligent research we are much closer to solving the mystery of the Hughes siblings. She has searched the census pages of 1850 Limestone County and found Jackson H. Hughes and wife Susannah Smith Hughes, along with children William H. and Silas R. Hughes. Doris is a descendant of William H. and I am a descendant from Nancy Jane (b. 1863). In addition, Doris has reason to believe that Jackson H. is the son of William and Lydia Hughes and the brother of Anderson, John, Aaron, William, and A. W.
