The Journal of Pauline Allen Watson August 3, 1928 - Baptized November 3 & 4, 1931 - Tonsil Clinic held in Trumann November 4, 1931 - Several articles relating to the Tonsil Clinics November 16 & 17, 1931 - Tonsil Clinic held in Trumann 1931-32 Junior Year - Trumann High School, Trumann, Arkansas April 17, 1932 (Sunday) - Methodist Church April 19, 1932 (Tuesday night) April 25, 1932 - Our home in Trumann, Arkansas caught fire on Monday afternoon, April 25, 1932. Daddy had just got home from Tennessee. May 6, 1932 - Friday - Our neighbor, Mrs. Sam Bass, died. May 7, 1932 - Saturday - Mrs. Bass was buried between Harrisburg and Jonesboro. I went with Mrs. Wallace, Mr. & Mrs. Young, son, Terrell. Beatrice Rose & Elsie ? spent the day with us. May 8, 1932 - Sunday - Mary Lois Allen and I went to Jonesboro. Howard
& Minnie went fishing. Also Mother and Verlon, too. December 26, 1932, Monday Night - We met Ruth and Blanch Johnson on the
street in Trumann on Monday nite before we were leaving Trumann on
Tuesday. They came home with me later. This is just a little
decoration (bow attached to page) off of one of Ruth's garters - and right on
Speedway, too. December 27, 1932 - We moved away from Trumann, Arkansas to Tennessee. 1933 Newspaper Article - Tornado strikes February 24, 1933, Friday - The back water out - traveling about 30 miles twice a day to and from school. We came today, stayed for a play - went to the back water over by Mr. Smithson. Those who stayed-Ruth Bridges, Leo Watson, Artie Fisher, Edith Love, Kathryn Garey, Joe Fry Love, Dan Powers, Jr., Howard and I (Pauline Allen). We all went to the water. Edith went boat riding. Howard Smithson and his boat. "Roaming through the woods"- [illegible word], Russell Watson drove the bus home about eleven o'clock. Miss Margaret Hitt, Mr. & Mrs. Ernest Brooks came back on the bus. We all sang and had a big time. Had to come home around by Morris Chapel. Rough roads. Soreness and still lots of fun. The Play - "I Will I Won't April 13, 1933 Thursday - Remains of the match. The day the little kids had to practice. Where is "Pat". The visitor and Thomas Pugh - Fun? April 17, 1933 Tacky Party, Mr. & Mrs. Ernest Brooks, "Bend" June 1, 1933 - Eva, Sam, & Bonnie Love, Minnie and I went to a spring. Eva and I went to river and Sam gave this (a leafy twig attached to page) to me. I promised to keep it. Ever remember the Loves and times we have been together. June 10, 1933 - On that Saturday night - Jim Banks walked home with me from singing. June 24, 1933 Saturday night - "The Old Maid's Convention" at Antioch school building. Mrs. Mary Fisher, coach. A rainy night - Rubel Alexander. April 4, 1934 At Antioch - Those who attended the surprise party at the
school house in honor of Miss Margaret Hitt were as follows -- April 19, 1934 - Junior-Senior Banquet, Saltillo High School, Saltillo, Tennessee August 3, 1934 - All day singing at Oakland (Bend). Eating watermelons at my house - "pup". In kitchen: Artie Fisher-Lealon Wyatt; Nola Betty Harrison-Thomas Pugh; Leo Watson and me. November 16, 1934 - Practice for play ("When Sally Comes To Town") first time. November 19-23, 1934 - Practice for play November 26-30, 1934 - Practice for play November 26, 1934 - Buried B. E. Allen November 27, 1934 - Ballgame at Saltillo December 1, 1934 - Rheba Garey's Sunday School Party - "Wimpy
Party" December 7 - Play at Antioch December 11, 1934 - At Evelyn's - Geneva & me December 15, 1934 - Carry play to Hinkle "When Sally Comes To Town" July 7, 1935 - Sunday - We went to Sulphur Well - Louise Gann and Floyd Blakenship were there. July 8, 1935 - Monday nite - went down to see Grandpa July 9, 1935 - Tuesday nite - Grandpa died around 8 or 9 July 10, 1935 - Grandpa was buried at Oakland. Bro. Bradfield held service. July 13, 1935 - Ice Cream Supper at schoolhouse July 18, 1935 - Josephine, Blanch spent the nite with me at Aunt Icie's. Radio Music. July 20, 1935 - Saturday nite date with Rubel Alexander October 10, 1937 to Jan. 28, 1939 - YWCA Memphis, Tenn. December 14, 1937 - Started to work at Kress Department Store in Memphis, Tennessee. December 14, 1938 - Received check from Fashion Curtain Company - 2 weeks - $ 21. 78 January 9, 1939 - Katherine Stoffle and Wylie (Myracle)'s son died August 2, 1942 - Howard came home (probably before entering into the service. August 13, 1942 - Howard left (probably for basic training). September 2, 1942-September 20, 1942 - I went to Kentucky. September 23, 1942 - Verlon left (probably for basic training). January 12, 1943 Verlon came home. March 13, 1943 - Howard came home (probably on leave before going overseas). March 21, 1943 - Howard left (probably for service overseas). December 17, 1945 - San Francisco, Western Union Telegram from Verlon Allen: Arrived Safely. Expect to see you soon. Dont attempt to contact or write me here. Love=James V. Allen
