Jane Gilbert West -- Family Cemetary

Imagine my surprise when I found this on the Camden County Geneology website. As you can see, the information I have about Robert West's ancestors is scarce. When I found this imformation on the web, suddenly I had more than double the records I had so far! I visited this area in November 2000, and came back with these pictures.

"In Memory of Jane West
Borned June 1 1844
Died Dec 15 1888
Age 48 Yrs
This Loving Sister Has Gone Before Me
She Has Gone To Live With God"
Above:
View from Treasure Point, the Pasquotank River. Less than a mile from the cemetary, the Gilbert family must have enjoyed this same beautiful view. Jane and her brothers might have swung their fishing poles out over this bank.

Below:
Intersection of Treasure Point Road and Country Club Road. The cemetary is just beyond the trees to the left, on Country Club Road. This could have been part of the Gilbert's farmland.
"In Memory of Robert Gilbert
Borned Feb 14 1812 Died Nov 18 1880 Age 72 Yrs
Must This Body Die Well Lock Frame Decay These Acts Of Lims Of Mine Lie Moltry In The Clay"
(My guess from the dates that this is Jane's father)
"In Memory of William Gilbert Borned Jan 10 1836 Died Nov 14 1881 Age 45 Yrs
When This You See Remember Me In Mine Let The World Say What It May Speak Me As You Fine"
(My guess from the dates that this is Jane's brother.)
