Alice Cartwright Harris Hozier

Alice was born in Chapanoke, NC. Alice once worked in a bookstore in the Arcade in downtown Norfolk. She was an excellent cook. She knitted Wilbur Palmer a white wool sweater when he was a teenager. She belonged to the Eastern Star and was a Christian Scientist. She married Arthur Hozier. They had no children.

Alice died in an unusual way, but surrounded by her family. Ercel and her family and Alice were over at Dorris's house for dinner. Everyone except for Dorris (who was in the kitchen fixing supper) was sitting in the living room talking. Alice was sitting in the rocking chair, dressed in one of her best dresses, when suddenly she peaceably died. Ercel called Dorris from the kitchen, but Alice had already passed away.
