Deed to Scruggs and Ryan

The State of Alabama Jackson County. For and in consideration of the sum of four hundred dollars to us in hand paid to George F. Scruggs and Samuel F. Bryan partners in trade under the firm name and style Scruggs and Ryan the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged we have this day bargained sold and conveyed to said Scruggs and Ryan the following described tract or parcel of land to wit: The west half of lot 139 fronting on Andrews Street west 132 feet coming back east 165 feet and known as the William D. Parks gin house and lot situated in the town of Scottsboro Jackson County in the State of Alabama. To have and to hold to the said Scruggs and Ryan forever warranting to defend said title to said Scruggs and Ryan -- Witness our hands and seals this 24th day of August 1881

Parks and his wife Addie Parks whose names are signed to the foregoing conveyance and who are known to me acknowledged before me on this day that being informed of the contents of the conveyance they executed the same voluntarily on the day the same bears date.
