This indenture made this the thirteenth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty three between W A JACKSON of the one part and Thomas JACKSON of the other part witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars to me in hand paid by the said Thomas JACKSON I have this day bargained sold and conveyed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell and convey unto the said Thomas JACKSON a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being originally in the ninth district but now the eleventh district GM Carroll County it being one fourth of lot number 170 one hundred and seventy containing fifty acres and five eighths of an acre more or less it being the second quarter of said lot beginning on the north and running a parallel line drawn from east to west through said lot to have and to hold unto him the said Thomas JACKSON with all and singular the rights members and appurtenances thereunto belonging and I the said William JACKSON do by these presents bind myself my heirs and assigns to warrant and forever defend the above bargained premises unto him the said Thomas JACKSON his heirs and assigns forever in fee simple in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above Written signed sealed and delivered in the presence of

Carroll County In person appeared before me the subscribing Justice of the peace in and for said county R.S. FLETCHER who being duly sworn deposeth and saith that he saw W.A. JACKSON sign seal and deliver the written deed for the written deed for the [sic; the phrase was repeated on the next page] purpose therein mentioned and that this deponent signed the same as witness and saw S. COPELAND do likewise sworn to and subscribed herein on this 8th of June 1853. H.A. RAGAN [in 1853 he was agent for GM 1006, Land District 9] Registered this 21st of April 1854
