Kimsey Jackson Bible
A photocopy of Thelma Kimsey's family tree was given to me by a cousin, who received it from another cousin who visited the family in Alabama, probably in the 1970's. My cousin thought it was a family bible page. It is a family tree of Thelma Kimsey and her ancestors. The family tree starts with Mother's Name, Thelma Kimsey. Most of the entries appear to have been written by the same person, with one pen, with some dates added later by another hand and different pen. Thelma was born in 1906.
The significance of this bible is that Thelma's maternal grandmother was Elmira Jackson Wolf, the sister of my great-great grandmother Martha Adlade Jackson Holdridge. Thelma's grandfather Philip Wolf, married as second wife, Mollie Jackson, then he married third, Elmira, both sisters of Martha Adlade. From the bible and from recollections of my cousin who visited the family, we know that the father of Elmira and Martha and Mollie was Thomas Jackson, and that their mother was a Smith.
Philip Wolf lived in Henry County, Georgia in 1840, the same county in which the Holdridge's were living. He appeared in Tallapoosa County, Alabama by 1850, the first time that the Holdridge families also started appearing on the census.
Thelma's paternal grandmother was Harriet Henrietta Smith, daughter of John Smith. Since families moved together and often intermarried, this Smith line could be related to the unknown Smith wife of Thomas Jackson.
The photocopy was very old and not very clear, but I transcribed as much as I could read. The notes in brackets are mine. If I was not sure I used a question mark or underscores.
