In Hosp. at Floyd House & Ocmulgee Hosp. at Macon, had been WIA, given 30 day furlough 10/3/63. WIA again near Atlanta (PWR). Taken POW near Atlanta 7/22/64, sent via Nashville to Camp Chase 7/31/64.  Lewis SMITH's description may show that he was the Native American in the family.  Family tradition says that one of the ancestors was Native American.

When Jane SMITH  married Joseph GOODSON she listed her parents as Lewis SMITH and Sarah HOLDERFIELD.      They married in Alleghaney County NC 16 Dec 1891.  Some believe that Sarah is the daughter of Isaac and Cintha Holyfield below.  She and Lewis did go with William [her supposed brother] and Lydia Holderfield over to Grayson County Virginia.  She was born in NC, and we haven't found her with any other family.
