| The Heritage of Rutherford County, North Carolina Vol I, 1984 says
Peyton Hollifield came to Philadelphia from England in the late 1600s.
His family migrated to VA and later to the Rutherford Co area of NC.
One of Peyton's descendants in that area was John HOLLIFIELD, wife Sarah
C.
Could this group account for the Hollifields in western NC that William Hollifield III could not "connect" directly with the other families of Holyfields? |
| William Hollifield III says:
Valentine HOLYFIELD was the indentured servant who came to MD from England before 1720. His wife was Elizabeth GILLEY. He was indentured to Thomas WORTHINGTON, Anne Arundel Co MD. He supposedly had sons Ralph (1720), Orson, and Daniel. The Ralph who lived in Wake co NC died there in 1790...he would have been about 70 years old. |
| The Joseph HOLLYFIELD family of Prince George Co MD in 1763..see below. |
