| This is a picture of William Shoemaker.
He had a sad life in several spots. His father died when he was a teenager.
Then his wife died after or during the birth of their second child, Merril.
My Grandmother was only about two when she died. Then William bought a
race horse for stud and it was sterile. He had paid $5000 the story is.

Here is the picture of Merril Shoemaker,
Veta's brother. He died of an appendix rupture. I have a postcard
sent to Grandma, telling of Merril's death at college. He was going
to the Oregon Agricultural college in Corvalis, Oregon. It is now
know as Oregon State University.
