Maxine Cadzow  -   Jane HOGG daughter of John HOGG, was born in Whitehaven, Cumbria in 1813.  In 1836, she married a Baptist preacher, John Dixon RICHARDSON at St. Bees Chapel, Whitehaven. The family moved to South Shields, Durham.  The 1851 census indicates that the family was briefly in Somerset in 1842, prior to settling in South Shields about 1844.  Jane Richardson nee HOGG died in South Shields in 1876.  After her husband’s death in 1856, Jane continued to run a school associated with the strict Baptist church in South Shields.
Jane HOGG had a sister, Elizabeth who was born in 1829, South Shields.
She married William MOULD date unknown.  Elizabeth HOGG died 1895 and was buried at St. Matthews church, Silkworth

Cilla Chapman's Family Tree  - researching in Felton, Northumberland, England

Claire Grey - I am descended from the family of John Hogg born July 5 approx 1779, who married Elizabeth Lydstone Muggridge at St James in Westminster in London on 24 Aug 1807. He was supposed to be born in Scotland and be a jeweller.Other family records call him George. They had 6 children, Elizabeth born in London in 1813, Annie, June 5th 1815, Georgina Elenora Duncanson Freer born Oct 2 1818, George Oscar Freer born June 16, 1816 and Alfred.( date unknown) The last 5 are said be born in Perth but I have found no records there yet. The dates are from a birthday book. They had links in Brixham Devon, with the Rev Lyte, author of the hym 'Abide with Me' whose daughter married a John Roughton Hogg, Lyte's curate. John Roughton Hogg's parents said to have come from Kettering, his father called James Hogg. Witnesses at his wedding: Wm E Hogg and Rosa Hogg. I have not yet established a family connection. My cousins own a tea Caddy with 'Catherine Hogg Dunbar' written on it.
This is all I know about the family ,anyone with any connections or information would be welcome,

Alan Cleaver - I am researching the Hogg family that ran the Spread Eagle Hotel, Rugby,
Warwickshire, UK at the end of the 19th century. The hotel, mentioned in the novel Tom Brown's Schooldays, no longer exists. My great great grandfather, George Hogg, came to Rugby in about 1850 apparently from Louth, Lincolnshire. My mother's maiden name was Phyllis Hogg. My family tree to date can be found at
http://homepages.enterprise.net/alancleaver/tree/Whole_File_Report.html

Karen Walker - If you would like information about the Hoggs in Nottinghamshire, please let me know and I will gladly supply you with the info available to me.

Catherine Hogg - my name was catherine hogg until my mother remarried. when i was 9yrs old my father derek hogg died. i dont have any information other than he had 1 sister and 2 brothers. 1 brother was known to live in America i dont know any of their names My fathers mother lived in Ripon street in Ingol.preston.lancashire. My mothers name was marion and I also had 1 brother called Derek. I dont know if there is anyone out there with any information for me but if anyone knows of my family which I havent seen for 25yrs could they contact me.

Janet Few - I am searching for the family of John HOGG who was born about 1800, probably in Kirkwhelpington, Northumberland England (he changes his mind about where and when he was born and even his christian name which doesn't help). He is supposed to have married Elizabeth PEARSON betwen 1851 and 1854 but no trace of this marriage has been found in England or Scotland. Given his age, he may well have been married to someone else before this. John and Elizabeth moved to Morpeth, Northumberland and had 4 children:-

Any details of John's baptism, marriage or descendants welcome.

Adam Monk - Desperately trying to find Gavin HOGG I don't think he ever married but helped to raise his sisters children when she was widowed when the children were still young. Although I know where his 3 sisters were born, 2 at Binsted in Hampshire and 1 in Somerset, and that his parents were James and Mary Hogg, I do not have any idea where he was born. I know he was someone in authority at a drapery company in London (possibly called Copestake Sampson) I have a portrait of him which was hung in his office. The only sister to marry was Mary HOGG who married John Stamp in 1846 they had the following children Mary, William, Alfred and James - when John Stamp died Gavin took over and sent them all to Alton grammar school. His three sisters were born in 1817,1820 and 1830 so this is a rough guideline to his age. Certainly not in evidence on the 1881 census.

Derek Hogg - I am researching the Hogg families in Gloucestershire, England. Earliest relative so far is Edward Hogg @1650 in Pitchcombe, Glos

Jan Collins - My ggggrandmother, Isabella Hogg was born in 1800 somewhere in the north of England. In 1823 she married Joseph Codling in Gateshead and they had several children including Isabella born at Easington in 1842. She is my gggrandmother. Anyway, the entire family moved to America in the mid 1800's. Family names included William, Joseph, Elizabeth (who apparently died before the family crossed the sea), Isabella, and Jane. I can't seem to go back any further on this Hogg line and I'm wondering if you have any suggestions. Thanks for your time!

Heather - I am trying to trace my dads family. I never knew them. My dad was born in Ayr Scotland apprx 1902 died in Manchester England 1962. He was in the army during the war ands I have his army number. I am very new to this so any ideas you can give me would be great. There are no known relatives and I don't know his parents names, how can I get a copy of his birth certificate? I live in Canada now so can't trek up to Scotland, his name was Anthony Hogg. Thank you

Debra - My family originate from Yorkshire and I have researached back as far as William Hogg who had 6 (?) children- John, Elizabeth, George and 3 others. William's son, George Hogg, (born circa l836, died 1906) married Elizabeth Tryst (daughter of a Devonshire farmer) and then, after her death, Julia. His marriage to Elizabeth resulted in the birth of Alice Maud Neck and George Percy Neck - born l866. His marriage to Julia resulted in Albert Hogg - by then believed to be living in Marylebone, London. Any further help would be appreciated.

Stephen Bray - I'm trying to find a little bit more information on a Henry Hogg who married a Annie Maria Porter. 1881 Census information: Dwelling: Census Place: South Mimms, Middlesex, England

They had at least one son Richard Henry Hogg (October 24, 1882 - Belevedere, Kent) married Margaret Isabella Willmer August 19, 1909 St. James Church, Enfield Highway, Middlesex, England. Richard and Margaret had two daughters: Margaret Isabella Hogg b. February 28, 1911 Evelyn Daisy Hogg b. December 30, 1913

Angie Asplin - I am researching a book on the case known as "The Hampstead Tragedy" from London 1890. The murderess I am writing about, Mary Eleanor Pearcey, was found guilty and executed for killing her lover's wife and child.

Her lover, Frank Samuel Hogg, came from the Camden Town area of London. He was around 30/31 years of age in 1890. His family ran a grocers/tea dealers at 87 King St until March 22 1888, when the lease ran out. They had been there for 40 years. He married his wife in November 1888.

The father's name was James Hogg, he was dead by 1888. Mother's name still to be ascertained.
Fred H Hogg (70 Hadley St Camden Town)
Edwin Hogg - ran a large furniture removal business from 70 Castle Road
Clara Hogg - lived with their mother at 141 Prince of Wales Road.

I would like to trace Frank and any of his descendants. I belive his brother Edwin died in the 1930's at around 80 and he remained in the Camden area. I'm not sure that Frank stayed there as public feeling ran quite high at the time and he was one of the most hated men in England. I believe he went away but I don't know where!

Please could you put my search on your site? I'm going to do some work with the 1901 census soon and I hope to find out more. This information will be interesting to fellow Hoggs I think, and I might even trace a distant relative.

Frances Halliday
- I am trying to find out information on my ancestor Jabez Hogg who was born in 1817 and died in 1899. He lived and worked in London. He was married twice. He was a well known opthalmic surgeon and author of The Microscope. There is plenty of information about him on the internet but who were his parents? He was supposed to be related to James, the Etrrick Shepperd. (here's a photo of Jabez Hogg)

Steve Lukinuk - Here's the latest info that I have on my Hogg ancestors and their families. Nathaniel Hogg was my gg grandfather, and Mary Jane Hogg, was my g grandmother.

Fred Hogg - My Hoggs start with Charles Hogg, Blacksmith, in 1790, Kelloe, Durham, England. Moving to South Shields, Durham. His decendants moved to Walker, Newcastle,Northumberland. The family I know about remain here in the North East of England, some in Australia. They worked as blacksmiths, boilermakers and rivetters at the shipyards on the Tyne. Charles was married to Ann. Their family were John ( My GG Grandfather), Charles, Stephen, Martha, Anthony, William, Ann, Grace, Frances and Robert. John married Margaret Orrick in 1845 and had children, Elizabeth, Robert, William, Charles (My G Grandfather), Margaret Ann, Catherine and Sarah. Charles married Jane Dorward in 1880 and their children were, John, Charles, Frederick(My Grandfather), Eleanor and David. If anyone has any connections I would like to hear from them.
