"Jacob Pepper of Roxbury, Massachusetts, was the last son of Robert and Elizabeth (Johnson) Pepper. He was born July 28, 1661, baptized August 4, 1661 (Boston record); married February 10, 1685, to Elizabeth Paine (daughter of Stephen, the Sec. of Rehoboth and Anna [Chickering] Paine). He settled in Roxbury but removed about 1715 to Framingham, Massachusetts, where he died April 10, 1739. He was married second in 1714 to Mary Gleason (daughter of Thomas Gleason of Framingham). He was in Father Rall's War (a Massachusetts war) under the muster roll of Capt. Isaac Clark's company of troopers from August 21 to September 18, 1725. This war lasted from 1722 to 1726. (Ref.: J.H.
