Stephen Wright of Muhlenberg County, State of Kentucky__In the name of God Amen, I Stephen Wright of Muhlenberg County, State of Kentucky, Calling to mind that it is appoint for all men once to die (Being weak of body but of perfect mind and memory) do make this my Last Will and Testament as follows--First I do submit my Body to the Earth from Whence it came and my soul into the hands of God who gave it me . Believing in the resurrection of the Body through Jesus Christ our Lord. Of which property it has pleased God to bless me with, my body to be buried in a Christian like manner and all expenses to be paid and also my just debts. The balance I do will and bequeath as follows: First, to my beloved son John Wright, five shillings. 2econdly, my loving daughter Mary forehand to have Seven Dollars worth of property. Also my son, Stephen Wright, to have five shillings. Also, my Grand-daughter Susanna Peple (or Pessle?) to have seven Dollars worth of property when she comes of age. Also, my Daughter Margaret Wright to have one feather Bed, Beadstead and furniture and one year old Courtt(?) Also, my Son, Mathiss to have my Saddle and also my son James have five shillings. Lastly, I do give and bequeath unto my loving wife Jane, all the rest of my property. That is the plantation, Horses, Cattle, Stock of all kinds, farming utensils and house hold furniture. Also, I do appoint my wife Jane Executrix of this my last Will and Testament and in full Testimony of this being my last Will and Testament I do affix my hand and seal this the 26th of March in the year of our Lord, 1816.

The last Will & Testament of Stephen Wright Sr., deceased, was exhibited in Court by the executors therein named & proved by the oath of Andrew * Park Jr., a subscribing witness thereto & ordered to be certified and it appearing to the satisfaction of the Court that Nicholas Lockerman, the other witness thereto is an inhabitant of (Blank) County, Illinois Territory on motion of Jane Wright the Executrix therein named it is ordered that a ********* be awarded her directed to any two of the Justices of the peace for said Territory anexed to the said Will for the purpose of fully proveing the said Will and the further proceedings herein ar continued untill the said proof be produced.

This day personally came before mt the Subscriber, a Justice of the peace in and for said County, Nicholas Lockerman, a subscribing Witness to the annexed Will of Stephen Wright, Deceased, and after being duly sworn, deposeth and Saith that he the said Stephen Wright did in his presence execute the foregoing Will and that he has every reason to believe said Wright was perfectly in his senses at the time of Executing said Will and further this deponent sayeth not.
