Lillian Marie Stanley, 81, of Elk Grove and formerly of Galt, died Aug. 27, in Sacramento. She was born Lillian Gudel on Feb. 21, 1919, in Galt. Mrs. Stanley was raised on a dairy farm in Galt, graduated from Galt High School in 1937, and attended Western Business College in Sacramento. She worked as a bookkeeper for Blake, Moffit & Towne in Old Sacramento prior to her marriage. She married Franklin Stanley on Feb. 4, 1946, and they lived in Sacramento until moving to a farm in the Alta Mesa area near Wilton in 1953 wfere they raised their family. They moved to Elk Grove in 1989. Her primary job was raising her family. She was active in her community and she enjoyed working in her flower garden and raising her farm animals. She served as Mothers Club President at Arcobe School for several years and was Community Leader of the Alta Mesa 4-H Club for ten years. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Elk Grove. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Franklin Stanley of Elk Grove; son, Bill Stanley of Elk Grove; daughters, Janet Deuel of Elk Grove, Carol Hall of Durham, and Terri Hutton of Yuba City; brother, Fred Gudel of Galt; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers, Albert, Carl and Robert Gudel; sisters, Florence Houck and Martha Ofstead. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 5, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 8701 Elk Grove-Florin Road, Elk Grove. Internment will be private at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church or to a charity of the donor's choice. Cherokee Memorial Park & Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Internment will be private at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.
