South America. After staying in Brazil for nearly' a year he returned to
New York, and then crossed the continent a second time. In 1898 he traveled
to Oregon, and while in that area met and married Mrs. Emma Mack of the
Dalles. The couple moved to Bellota in the Linden district and later, in
1901, purchased a ranch near Victor, which they operated until 1922 when
they moved to Lodi. In addition to their Church st. home, the Millers also
maintained a small ranch located on lower Sacramento rd. in the Woodbridge
district. A member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Mr. Miller was a member
of the churchmen's club. He evidenced great interest in political affairs,
and exercised his right to vote by casting a ballot at nearly every election
since he was in his early twenties, including voting in the 1959 elections.
