Va.}---- Thelma Hardy McBride, 90, of 138 Kemper Road died Monday,
Sept. 11, 2000, at Danville Regional Medical Center. Born May 26, 1910,
in Mayberry, W.Va. she was the daughter of Albert Hardy and Emma Jean Rigney
Hardy. She was married to Richard McBride, who predeceased her Aug. 7,
1989. Mrs. McBride had lived in Danville since 1927. She was employed at
S.S. Kresge Co., Woolworth's & retired from Belk Leggett Dept. Store.
She was a member of Schoolfield Baptist Church, Belk Leggett Retirement
Club, AARP, Good Samaritan Club & Danview Breakfast Club. She had been
in declining health for about four months and in the hospital for a week.
Survivors include a number of cousins including, Lewis Hardy of Richmond
and Levi "L.P." Rigney, Myrtle Staples and Elsie Eanes, all of Danville
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, at Mt. View Cemetery
with the Rev. David R. Turbyfill officiating. The family will receive friends
from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, at Swicegood Funeral Home.
