Joella Johnson Dies On Vacation: Joella Marie Johnson, six-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Johnson of Galt, died Thursday in Paradise Valley, Nev. while on a vacation trip with her parents. She is survived by brother, Scott Johnson, Galt; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Johnson, Twin Cities; and Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Richards, Bakersfield. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Salas-Galt Mission Chapel with the Rev. Ernest Adams of the Galt Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be in Galt Cemetery.



From The Evansville Courier & Press....August 29, 2000 {Princeton, Indiana} ---- Louise Cain Johnson, 90, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville. She taught at Decker Chapel School and Mount Carmel schools and retired from Washington School in Vincennes. She was a member of Hazleton United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Retired Teachers Association and Coterie Club and a former member of Eastern Star. Surviving are a son, Max Cain of Princeton; a sister, Joan Coates of Hammond; two grandchildren, Curtis Cain and Candice Hunt; and six great-grandchildren. Two husbands, Nobe Cain and Russell Johnson, preceded her in death. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Colvin Funeral Home, with burial in Vincennes Memorial Park. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Evansville Courier & Press....September 8, 2000 {CROSSVILLE, Illinois} — Karen S. Davenport-Johnson, 49, died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2000, at Cottage Hospital in Galesburg, Ill., of heart failure. She worked as the administrative assistant at Bridgeway for 20 years. She was a member of the Summit Avenue Baptist Church in Decatur, Elks, Reach to Recovery, Knox County Humane Society and the Community Behavioral Health Care Association. She entertained as “Magic Lady” and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians. Surviving are her husband, Robert O.; two stepsons, Jim S. Johnson of Peoria and Jon K. Johnson of Wataga; her father and stepmother, George Hal and Lucille Davenport of Crossville; three sisters, Leona Cobb of Mayfield, Ky., Shirley Pierce of Mount Zion and Peggy Davenport of Yakima, Wash.; four stepsisters, Sarah Burrows, Rose Maulden and Helen Pullens, all of Decatur and Dorothy Burnett of Tulihine, Okla.; a brother, George W. Davenport of Oreana; a stepbrother, Bobby Rollinger of Decatur; two stepgrandsons, Tanner and Bryce Johnson; and nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in Little Wabash Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Sturm Funeral Home Crossville Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Elks Crippled Children’s Fund or the American Cancer Society.

From The Record....Monday, September 11, 2000 {Stockton, California} Charles Ray Johnson, 70, of Stockton died Saturday in a hospital. Mr. Johnson was born in Bastrop, La. He lived in Stockton for 41 years. Mr. Johnson retired after working for 40 years for B. J. J. Trucking. He was a truck driver. Mr. Johnson was a member of Teamsters Local 439. He was married for 35 years. Survivors: wife, Betty Johnson of Linden; and brothers, Jim Johnson of Prescott, Ariz., and Russell Johnson of Pollock Pines. Services: private. Committal: private. Mortuary: DeYoung Memorial Chapel.



The Daily Independent....September 15, 2000 Wilbur E. Johnson, 75, of Louisa, died Thursday in Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa. Mr. Johnson was born Sept. 9, 1925, in Circle Hill, Ohio, a son of the late Jack and Augusta Belle Evener Johnson. He was retired from General Motors, a member of United Auto Workers Local 969 and American Legion and a World War II Army veteran. Surviving are his wife, Ruby V. Vanhorn Johnson; a son, Max L. Johnson of Louisa; and two sisters, Helen Keller and Sally McFarland, both of Columbus, Ohio. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Wilson Funeral Home in Louisa by the Rev. Paul Ray Diamond. Burial will be in Yatesville Memorial Gardens in Louisa with military rites by W.O. Johnson American Legion Post 89 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6103. Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.



Aberdeen American News Published on Thursday, September 14, 2000 {Hoven} -- Mass of Christian burial for Raymond C. Johnson, 41, of Hoven will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday in St. Anthony"s Catholic Church in Hoven. The Rev. Joseph D. Short will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home in Bowdle in charge of arrangements. A wake service will be at 8 tonight at the church. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. Friday until the time of the service, all at the church. He died of natural causes Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Raymond C. Johnson was born March 20, 1959, to Irene (Huber) and Abner Johnson in Hoven. When he was 6, his mother died and he then lived with his aunt and uncle, Floyd and Ceil Dufloth in Hoven. He attended St. Anthony's Parochial School. When he was 10, he went to live with his father and stepmother in Gettysburg, where he also attended school. He attended high school at the South Dakota School for the Visually Handicapped in Aberdeen, graduating in 1977. Following his schooling, he was engaged in carpentry work and dairy equipment installation with his father in Potter County for a few years. He then traveled with his cousins in a carnival for a number of years. Later he relocated to Aberdeen, where he was engaged in odd jobs for a few years. In December 1996, he returned to Hoven, where he was employed with the Cass-Clay Dairy the remainder of his life. He was a member of St. Anthony"s Catholic Church in Hoven. He was a member of the Eagles Aerie No. 632 in Aberdeen and the National Rifle Association. He wrestled in high school and was a big sports fan. He especially enjoyed watching football. He also enjoyed hunting, target shooting and throwing darts. Survivors include his father and stepmother, Abner and Mary L. Johnson of Montgomery City, Mo.; one brother, Wendel D. Johnson of Hoven; two stepbrothers, Greg Maroney of Sante Fe, N.M., and George Maroney of Montgomery City; and five stepsisters, Denise Brend of Milwaukee, Cheryl Hanson of Sioux Falls, Gerrene Maroney of Palm Springs, Calif., Dixie McGrath of Morgan Hill, Calif., and Sherri Henderson of Mexico, Mo. He was preceded in death by his mother, one brother in infancy and one sister in infancy. Casketbearers will be Randy Huber and Scott Huber, both of Sioux Falls, Wayne Theunissen of Grand Forks (N.D.) Air Force Base and Dale Bachman, Ernie Hoven and Gordon Huber, all of Hoven.



The Daily Independent September 9, 2000 Jeanette Kiser Johnson, 81, of Dry Creek, Topmost, died Friday in Hazard Nursing Home. Mrs. Johnson was born July 30, 1919, in Topmost, a daughter of the late Alonza and Eveline Cook Kiser. Her husband, Woodrow Johnson, also preceded her in death. Surviving are three sons, Otis Dathan Johnson of Halo, and Alexander and Woodrow Johnson Jr., both of Dry Creek; a daughter, Gloria Gay Overstreet of Wellington, Ohio; a brother, Vernon Kiser of Cambridge, Ohio; two sisters, Olive Johnson of Halo, and Mildred Sexton of Knoxville, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be at noon Sunday at Joe Hall Cemetery in Dry Creek, Topmost, by Old Regular Baptist ministers. Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home in Martin.
