Evansville Courier & Press....August 30, 2000 {EVANSVILLE, INDIANA}--- Richard S. “Dusty” Campbell Sr., 81, of Evansville, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000, at Cypress Grove Rehabilitation Center. He retired from General Dynamics, Convair, in 1971 after a career of managing testing and quality assurance for the Atlas missile program. He was a World War II Army veteran, a private pilot who flew doctors and medical supplies to Baha, Calif., with the Flying Samaritans, and a lieutenant colonel in the Civil Air Patrol. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Dorothy; a daughter, Sarah Ann of Newport Beach, Calif.; two sons, Richard S. Jr. of Newburgh and Keith of Evansville; and three grandchildren, Melissa, Richard and Christopher. The body will be cremated. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Newburgh United Methodist Church, with a memorial service at 7 p.m. There will be no visitation at Simpson Funeral Home Newburgh Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to American Parkinson Disease Association or Newburgh U.M. Church.



The Daily Independent....August 30, 2000 {Catlettsburg} ---- Winferd C. ``Red" Campbell, 85, of Catlettsburg, died Friday at his home. Mr. Campbell was born Dec. 15, 1914, in Lincoln County, W.Va., a son of the late Floyd and Maude Smith Campbell. He was a retired electrician for Ashland Oil and was a deacon, charter member, Sunday school teacher, song leader and clerk at Waverly Road Missionary Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Ruby Sparks Campbell; two sons, Paul Campbell of Ceredo, W.Va., and John Campbell of Catlettsburg; a daughter, Lois Hale of Catlettsburg; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Monday at Waverly Road Missionary Baptist Church by Pastor Donald Scott and John Massie. Burial was in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland. Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.



Bristol Herald Courier September 17, 2000 {NEW YORK} -- Julia Sheffey Pace Campbell, died Tuesday, Aug. 29. 2000, in New York City. She was born in Abingdon and had spent her later years in Bristol Tennessee and New York. Surviving are two daughters, Joyce Morton of Washington, D.C., and Mary Gilbert of New York City; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, Sept. 23, 2000, at 2 p.m. The Rev. Donald Daniels will officiate. Mrs. Campbell was cremated in New York. She was preceded in death by a son, John Jr.; and a daughter, Judy. Robinson Mortuary of Bristol is in charge of arrangements.



Bristol Herald Courier September 17, 2000 {WATAUGA} -- Robert Kenneth Campbell, 68, of 491 East Fourth Avenue died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, in Johnson City Medical Center. He was born in Carter County, a son of Nora Johnson Campbell of Elizabethton and the late George J. Campbell. He was a 1950 graduate of Happy Valley High School. He retired as a Air Force tech sergeant, having served in the Korean War and Vietnam War. He was a member of the Bluff City VFW post and served as a security guard with Employers Security of Knoxville until his retirement in 1993. He was a member of Watauga Christian Church. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are a daughter, Jana Lisa Hicks of Watauga; two sons, Joey Campbell of Bluff City and Jeffrey Campbell of Johnson City; a sister, Phyllis Taylor of Johnson City; two brothers, Fred Campbell and Donald Campbell, both of Elizabethton; four granddaughters; a step-granddaughter; a step-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. in Memorial Funeral Chapel. Dr. Kenneth Jordan will officiate. Interment will be in Thompson family cemetery. Among survivors are a son-in-law, Dennis Hicks of Watauga; two daughters-in-law, Paula Campbell of Bluff City and Janiece Campbell of Johnson City; four granddaughters, Kristen Hicks, Kendra Hicks, Bethany Campbell and Ashley Kate Campbell; a step-granddaughter, Ashley May; and a step-grandson, Ryan May. Pallbearers and military graveside honors will be accorded by the Burial Detail from Shaw Air Force Base of Sumpter, S.C. Honorary pallbearers will be Ken Potter, Brownie Lee Phipps, Charles Brubaker, Larry Hammons, Dr. Clifford Wiegand, Dr. Clarence Spannuth, Dr. Leslie W. Panus, Dr. Herman Snyder, Ronald Lackas and the nurses and staff of the FMC Dialysis Center. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and may also call at the home of a daughter and son-in-law, Jana Lisa and Dennis Hicks, 350 E. Fifth Ave., Watauga. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Danville Register and Bee September 17, 2000 {ROCK HILL, S.C.} - Marion Sanders Campbell Sr., 93, of 127 Murrah Drive died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, at Magnolia Manor. Born in Fort Lawn, he was the son of Major Campbell and Lizzie Vernadore Campbell. He was married to Pansy Giles Campbell, who predeceased him. He left his family farm as a young man and worked for the Highway Dept. building roads. He later worked at Rock Hill Finishing and Printing Company as a framer, he retired after 45 years as a foreman of the finishing department. Survivors include three sons, Marion S. Campbell Jr. of Plano, Texas, Thomas G. Campbell of Williamsburg, Va. and Paul L. Campbell of San Diego; two brothers, the Rev. M.J. Campbell Jr. and James Campbell, both of Rock Hill; two sisters, Marie Arthur and Vernelle Wasylewski, both of Rock Hill; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife he was predeceased by one daughter, Zana E. Campbell-Bomar. A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Monday, at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Charlie Lucas officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Sunday, at Greene Funeral Home-Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebeneezer Road, Rock Hill. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 215 E. Main Street, Rock Hill, S.C. 29730.



Danville Register and Bee September 18, 2000 {MARTINSVILLE, Va}. - Ola Doggett Campbell, 75, of 155 Navy Lane died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000, at her residence. Born Oct. 18, 1924, in Forest City, N.C., she was the daughter of Spurdeon Doggett and Lela Mode Doggett. In July 1948, she was married to Wade Hampton Campbell, who predeceased her Aug. 12, 1977. She lived most of her life in Danville and worked for Dan River Mills, Inc. for a number of years as a weaver. She was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include one son, William Campbell of Shelby, N.C.; two daughters, Susan C. Durham of Martinsville and Sherry C. Fulk of Danville; three sisters, Dexter D. Johnson, Nell D. Vickers and Jeanette D. Herring, all of Forest City, N.C.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Tommy Campbell and a brother, Jennings Doggett. A funeral will be held 7:30 p.m. Monday at Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel, with the Rev. Billy Harris officiating. Interment will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk, Va. The family will receive friends 6:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, at Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel.



Elizabethton Star September 15, 2000 Celia Ann Campbell, 34, 2439 Amber Street, Knoxville, died unexpectedly Thursday, September 14, 2000, at St. Mary's Hospital, Knoxville. Ms. Campbell was a native of Carter County and the daughter of J.C. Campbell, Roan Mountain, and Mary Lewis Parrish, Babson Park, Fla. She was also preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Ressie Lewis, and her paternal grandparents, Thomas and Esther Campbell. Survivors, in addition to her parents, include a brother, Glenn Campbell, Elizabethton; her step-mother, Jeanette Campbell, Roan Mountain; her step-father, Harold Parrish, Babson Park, Fla.; her grandfather, Kenneth Lewis; her fiance, Bill Justice; and special friends, Shelia Ward, Shirley Cates and Pam Phillips. Several aunts and uncles also survive. Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.

Elizabethton Star Celia Ann Campbell, Funeral services for Celia Ann Campbell, 34, 2439 Amber Street, Knoxville, who died Thursday, September 14, 2000, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, September 15, 2000, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, with the Rev. Terry Lyons and the Rev. Ronnie Campbell officiating. Music will be under the direction of Linda Ramsey. Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 16, at Cordell Cemetery, Shell Creek Community. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Isakson, Ralph Pierce, Gene Lewis, Kyle Lewis, Dean Maxwell, Jerry Heaton, J.D. Sapp, Tommy Sapp, the Hampton High School Class of 1984 and Bill Austin. Everyone will meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel, Roan Mountain, at 1:40 p.m. Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel. Friends may also call at the residence of her father, J.C.
