Anderson Price Averitt was born in Hopkins County, Kentucky on April 14,
1828. She was married to A. P. Averitt December 19, 1853. She professed
a hope in Christ and joined the United Baptist Church, being baptized Sept.
17, 1876. Departed this life October 4, 1878 age 50 years, 5 months and
20 days. She was a faithful and true Christain until death. In her illness
which was long and severe, she bore it with patieence and Christain fortitude.
She ask her Physician if she was not dying. He told her in probability
she was and would be bound to go and that very soon if not a very great
change. She then called the children around her bed and told them to be
good children and meet her in heaven. She then told how she wanted to be
buried, then said to me (A. P. Averitt). I want you to have my funeral
preached by Bro. Fletcher, Bro. Gregory, and Dr. Mooney who was sitting
at her side at the time. In a short time she breathed her last on earth
in glorious trimph to sorrow no more. A crown that fades not away awaits
her above. Gratitudes and love fill the hearts of her lonely and weeping
companion, children, and many sorrowing relatives. Oh may our last end
be likes hers.
