Administrator- Lee Johnson
Pedigree
Policy: Each participant has been asked to submit
his own pedigree and all effort is being made to present the pedigrees as
received. As one would expect, this administrator will not alter any pedigree.
However, I may add notes or comments (before, within or after a pedigree chart)
in parenthesis and signed (“HJ”). Whether short or long, famous or not, each
pedigree is of equal importance in trying to solve the problems of genealogical
research where records have been lost or have not existed.
John Johnston moved from Ardnamurchan, Scotland to the
Isle of Coll, Scotland in the late 1500s or early 1600s. He was acting as factor
or protector for a relative, Una MacIain, the daughter of the MacIain chief
John Mor MacIain. Since my own Y-DNA (and my 4th cousin Brians) does not
match up with the MacIains or their MacDonald ancestors we may have
descended from one of the MacIain females. Any advice on possible male
ancestory in the 1500s period [neighbouring Camerons, MacLeans, Campbells
??] would be appreciated….Russell Johnson
