Forest and Tree

Wise is the person who sees the forest
From its grandeur inspiration glean.
Wiser still the person who sees the tree;
When the tree is what needs seen.

May we then in living life
Be it pleasure, pain, or strife
Steadily that wisdom learn
Their differentially discern.

Out of Dust

Out of dust we came, thus life began,
Of infinitesimal ‘magnitude’ made;
With ability to recreate
When two of us would mate.

Our likeness the creations displayed;
Eventually labeled by name - Man.

The power of deductive thought
Was the blessing he held;
Himself life’s mysteries taught;
Himself with his space meld.

Moved by curiosity, need,
Traveled the millennia expanse,
Across the earth journeyed.

Occurred differentiation when
’magnitudes’ were lost or new;
A different us was created then.

Today J, J, J labeled with its DNA core,
Gathered near northern Europe’s Atlantic shore
Where tales of space did dominate explore
Are full of determination’s blood, guts, and gore.

But oh! Their songs, poems, and music can
Sooth the savage breast when laid
Upon the savage beasties plate.
Let this brotherhood then advocate
Solidarity around the Johnston Plaid;
We are “Ay
e ready,” a Scottish Clan.

Purpose

-It is hoped that this page will be of help in keeping J/J/J members updated on the latest news, links and events related to genetic genealogy. Previously, an attempt has been made to keep members informed of the latest trends by using a periodic bulk email mailing. However, with the field of DNA research rapidly expanding with new announcements almost daily, bulk emailing is not well suited for this task. There is likely to be a need for occasional bulk emails from time to time ...so be prepared!
Notice: Input for this page from J/J/J members is appreciated!

Australia & New Zealand Johnstons Yahoo Group-  As the search for surnames is popular in a global sense many would like to niche their research to a Country or indeed a Province or County, the newly created Group of “Johnston’s in Australia” is a Forum and Network for those who are seeking genealogical and family tree information about their Johnston/e [and all derivatives] surname in Australia/New Zealand and their ties and roots to the surname "JOHNSTON/E".

When is a Johnson Not a Johnson?- Report by Joseph Keith Johnston

Attention: Johnson’s of Irish descent

Here is the site where I have some of the original DNA samples from
Johnson’s and McShane’s.  What this does not show is all the O'Neill’s that
have matches with us as well.  We should figure out a way to link the
sites so Irish Johnson’s know to look into the McShane-O'Neill history
for their possible origins.
Cheers,
J.R.

A very simple Haplogroup locale chart for both mtDNA and Y-DNA. Compiled by Georgia Kinney Bopp.

An interesting list of publications written by members of the Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation  staff show the broad range of research topics being investigated by this Foundation.

Neanderthal's fossil yields bits of elusive DNA A tiny fossil fragment from a Neanderthal man who lived and died 38,000 years ago has yielded the first snippets ever discovered of the extinct creature's crucial genes -- and they show that the species was strikingly identical to our own human ancestors

Might mating between an ancient human and a Neanderthal - perhaps occurring in only a single instance - have introduced a gene variant into the human population that enhanced human brain function?

Solving the riddle of China's so called "celtic" mummies.... see this report of this hot topic!

An interesting educational site about Northern Europe's ancient bog people
