Woodrow Pink "Woodie Pink" Webb

William Nathaniel Webb and brother, Woodie Pink Webb Woodrow Pink Webb was born on February 2, 1880, in Itawamba County, Mississippi.  He was the third child of David Dee Webb and Nancy Ann Ford.  He grew up in the Clay Community and he eventually married a girl from nearby, J.F. Johnson, on June 16, 1900.

"Woodie Pink," as he was known, and J.F. did not have any children.  At some point before 1909, she passed away.  Woodie remarried in about 1909, to Tula Lee Harden.  She was the daughter of John Richard Harden and Delia Lovella Pierce.  She was born on December 13, 1889, in Itawamba County, a full nine years younger than Woodie Pink.  He was about 29 and she was about 20 when they married.

The young couple had much trouble early on.  On August 12, 1914, they were expecting a new baby.  They wound up having twins on that day, but both were stillborn.  The death records survive:

Their next child was born in 1917, a girl.  Their first son to survive, Odell, was born on August 24, 1918.  Then they had a boy named Homer Harden Webb.  He was born on December 3, 1919.  The family was caught on the 1920 census as follows:

1920 Itawamba County, Mississippi Census

Woodie P. Webb 39
Tula 30
Leona 3 1/12 Dau.
Odell 1 8/12 Dau.
Homer 2/12 Son

They had another girl in 1923, and another in 1925, which would be their last.  Tula Lee did not live long after that.  She passed away from pneumonia on December 22, 1926, at the age of 37.  Her obituary notice in the Fulton paper is as follows:

Mrs. Woodie Webb
07 January 1926

Mrs. Woodie Webb, died at her home near Clay several days ago, from pneumonia that resulted from a case of the measles. She was laid to rest in the New Home Cemetery amid a host of relatives and friends. Mrs. Webb was the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. John Harden of near Tilden. She leaves her parents, the other members of her family, a grieved husband and five children. She lived a Christian life and will be sadly missed by her husband and children. Many sympathize with the bereaved.

It was hard enough losing their mother, but tragedy struck again, and on December 29, 1929, Homer passed away of appendicitis at the age of 10.  He was buried at Clover-Ridge Cemetery.

Woodie Pink lived on another twenty years almost.  After all of his children had grown, he passed away in 1957, at the age of 77.  His obituary is below:
