Miss Rachel Mittie Webb
The death of Miss Rachel Mittie Webb, which occurred at her home in Amory last Friday morning, March 6th, brought sorrow to a large circle of friends and relatives, who knew her and loved her.  Funeral services were held Saturday morning at 10:00 o'clock at Pickle Funeral Home.  The Rev. G.R. Williams officiated, assisted by the Rev. W.M. Jones, of Kosciusko.  Burial followed in Amory Masonic Cemetery.
"Miss Mittie", as she was affectionately known to her many friends, was the daughter of the late B.W. and Lucy Ann Parham Webb, pioneer citizens of Monroe County.  Since her early youth she has been identified with the mercantile business.  She assisted her parents in operating one of the first stores in Amory.  For the past several years she has been a valued employee of The Webb Company, which is located on the exact spot of the original Webb Store.
To few has it been given to live such a long, active, busy life - to achieve so much - to give so much and to be so greatly loved.  Her character and influence were felt by every one privledged to know her.  Her unselfishness, her love of others, her willingness to help in any worthy cause - her devotion to her family made her universally loved.
Early in life she joined the Methodist Church and lived a consistent christian to the end.  How comforting and reassuring are the words of the Master - Conqueror of Death: "Let not your hearst be troubled... for in my Father's house are many mansions... I go and prepare a place for you... I will come again and receive you unto myself... where I am, there may you be also."
Left to mourn her loss are four brothers: O.C. Webb and John Webb, of Amory, W.C. Webb of Nettleton, and B.G. Webb of Kosciusko; two sisters, Mrs. H.D. York, of Amory, and Mrs. Earnest L. Lucas, of Washington.
Pallbearers were: Joe Howell, W.H. Cutcliff, Olen Lantrip, Bill Ross, Oliver Willis, O.G. Lawson, Houston Egger, all of Amory, Roger Sanders, of Aberdeen.
