Cynthia Pauline Webb, was the youngest child of John G. Webb. When she was born on March 4, 1868, her father was 47 and her mother was almost 39. Some of her oldest siblings had been married for a few years, experienced the Civil War, and had children of their own by the time she was born. Her grandmother would see her born, but she would not remember Mary Rebecca Blalock Webb Pashcall herself. She grew up in Itawamba County, in the Clay community, and probably did not even remember very clearly some of her own aunts and uncles who were getting old when she was still a very young child. She did have plenty of cousins and even some siblings her age to enjoy though.
In 1893, at the age of 25, she married Starks Pollen Roberts. Where he came from is unknown, but he probably lived nearby as they began to raise a family in the same area. Starks and Cynthia Pauline had twelve children of their own. It was common to lose a few along the way in those days, but all eleven of their children grew to an adult age. All but one, "Old Man Roberts" (Relder), even had children of their own.
When the 1900 census came through Clay, they recorded the family in this way:
After a few more children, the 1910 census found them like this:1900 Itawamba County, Mississippi Census

As far as I know, none of their children moved away, but I am not sure where a few of them were living when they died. Instead, this family kept pretty close to home, even after they married. The two oldest boys married sisters actually, and two others married Chamblees, another prominent local family. Cynthia lost her father in 1903. Cynthia's last child was born in 1911, and her mother, Priscilla, died just a few years after that in 1915. She must have enjoyed having all her children and grandchildren, the first of which may have appeared in 1916, living nearby in her old age. But conflict did arise. When the two oldest boys' father-in-law passed away, an argument arose about the distribution of his estate. It is said that one of them killed the other, though I do not know which one died, or even when this argument occurred. Cynthia may have passed away long before.1910 Itawamba County, Mississippi Census

She did not live into extreme old age like some of her siblings. Although she was the youngest, a number of her older siblings outlived her. She died in March of 1928, and was buried at the Clover-Ridge Cemetery in Clay. Starks Pollen Roberts lived almost three decades longer than her, but many of their children had alread married and moved out of the house. Their youngest child was 17 when Cynthia died, so all of them had the chance to know her quite well before she passed on. When Starks died, he was buried beside her in the same cemetery her mother and father were buried in.
