Lindy
Blaylock was born on March 22, 1884. She was the eighth child of
Bob and Polly Blaylock and grew up in Greenwood Springs, Monroe County,
Mississippi.
On January 22, 1905, she married Henry Franklin "Frank" Camp.
He was the son of William T. Camp and Louvenia Sandlin Camp. He
had been born on August 9, 1870, which meant that while Lindy was 20 on
her wedding day, Frank was 34! But that age difference didn't
mean as much in their day. Their first child was born a year and
a half later, and they had eleven children in all. One, Charley,
didn't reach his tenth birthday, and their youngest boy, Harley, was
the brakeman on a railroad train when it wrecked, killing him.
But their other nine children grew up and had children of their own.
Frank and Lindy were living in Monroe County in 1930 when the census recorded the family this way:
1930 Monroe County, Mississippi Census
