The Adobe

My Grampa, Eric Charles Hindorff, built this shed more than 80 years ago.
The design is much like those of buildings found in Sweden, including the roof-line and deep eaves, but reminiscent of early California Spanish-Indian influence.

Grannie [Annie (Lamb) Hindorff] planted the Organ Pipe Cacti on the East side, shown here in early morning light. She had a large collection of Cacti; rare and unusual species collected from all over the Southwest Deserts over a period of many years. It is now illegal to obtain native cacti in the wild.

Grampa kept many of his Indian Relics in there. The thick Adobe walls created a climate cool and dry, ideal for storing artifacts, as well as many of his tools and rock specimens. He had one of the World's largest privately owned collections of Indian artifacts & relics, which included arrowheads and burial urns.

The Adobe is still in use today & in good condition.
