John Davis Waychoff was born on 4 March 1839 at Greene Co, PA.. He was the son of Jacob Waychoff Jr. and Nancy Bonar. He married Mary Katherine Hunt on 7 April 1859. He served in the 15th PA Cav, during the Civil War. He moved to Benton Co, IA. in 1873 then to Audubon Co, IA.4,9 He died on 5 June 1910 at Dedham, IA., at age 71. He was buried at Dedham Cemetery, Dedham, Carroll Co, IA..
