John Linville Jr. was born circa 1800 at VA. He was the son of John Linville and Elizabeth Shiverdecker. He married Margaret Gifford, daughter of John Gifford and Mary Jacobs, on 11 January 1822 at Harrison Co, WV.. He died between 1860 and December 1866 at Little Indian Run, Eagle Twp, Harrison Co, WV; died of small pox.
In 1825, John Linville bought 91 acres on Mud Lick Run, the same Run as John Gifford, his father-in-law. In August 1843, the same month his daughter married Christopher Cunningham, John Linville bought land on Little Indian Run, a branch of Cunningham Run. In 1866, after his death, the land was sold to his son-in-law, Benjamin Sandy.
