| James Matthew McMains, the
youngest son of Robert McMains and Sarah, was born in Franklin County,
KY (1791). He died in Mahaska County, IA (1864). He was married twice.
His first wife was Agnes Wymore (1810). Seven children came from this
union. I don't know for certain, but Agnes probably died before James
moved his family out of Kentucky, as his second marriage occurred in
Kentucky also. His second wife was Charity C. Dailey (1827). From this
union came ten children. Charity outlived her husband and died in
Mahaska County, IA (1896). The family followed the path of other
McMains families, as they moved from Kentucky into Indiana, across
Illinois, and settled in Iowa. One of James' children settled in
Indiana, and another moved on to Nebraska. |
